When will my hair grow back after chemotherapy?
Jas Fashion
Hair regrowth varies from person to person and depends on the type of chemotherapy you receive.
For many people, new hair begins appearing around one to three months after chemotherapy finishes, although some notice fine hair returning even earlier.
Initially, the new hair may feel softer, finer or curlier than before. Some people notice changes in colour or texture during the early stages of regrowth. These changes are often temporary, although occasionally they can be long-lasting.
Hair usually continues becoming thicker over the following months, but full regrowth may take six to twelve months or longer.
While waiting for your hair to return, comfortable chemo headwear can help keep your scalp protected from sun, cold weather and everyday exposure.
If you have concerns about your hair regrowth or notice unexpected changes, speak with your oncology team, who can provide advice based on your individual treatment.
