We offer private fitting sessions for chemo headwear by appointment. Your satisfaction is our top priority.
To schedule a fitting, please fill out our online Fitting Request Form, and we'll contact you to confirm the appointment. These sessions typically last 30 minutes to one hour, ensuring we find the perfect headcovers for you. Alternatively, you can call us at 02-97494538 and leave a message, or email your request to Support@JasFashion.com.au .
Please Note:
We operate in an industrial factory complex and do not have a display area for all our items. The best way to view our full range is through our online store.
During your fitting session, we take the time to understand your individual needs, preferences and stage of hair loss. We will measure your head to help determine the most suitable size and fit, and you will have the opportunity to try on different styles, sizes and materials to find headwear that feels comfortable, secure and suits you.
We can help you explore different options, including bamboo and cotton chemo hats, turbans, sun hats, winter headwear, bamboo hat liners and halo hair solutions. We can also provide guidance on sizing and fit, particularly if you are experiencing complete or partial hair loss, have a sensitive scalp, or find that your usual hat size has changed after hair loss.
No, there is no obligation to purchase during your fitting session.
However, to make the most of this rare opportunity for an in-person fitting session and the time and effort you have taken to visit us, we recommend browsing our online Buying Guides and product range before your appointment. You may wish to take screenshots of any items you are interested in trying on and bring them with you to your fitting session.
This will help us better understand your preferences, save time during your appointment and allow you to explore as many suitable options as possible.
Every purchase with Jas Fashion is meaningful. Whenever possible, we contribute to and support cancer-related charities, organisations and community programs. By choosing to shop with us, you are not only supporting a Sydney-based family business specialising in headwear and solutions for people experiencing hair loss, but also helping us continue to give back to the wider cancer community.
Chemo Headwear 101: Beginner’s Guide
- Two soft everyday chemo caps.
- One comfortable sleep cap (if you like sleeping with your head covered).
- One sun hat if you spend time outdoors.
- Two comfortable bamboo or cotton chemo caps for everyday wear.
- One sleep cap if you prefer covering your head at night.
- One wide-brim sun hat for outdoor protection.
- One dressier turban or hat for social occasions or appointments.
- Night Time: A nightcap is not only for warmth; it also helps with hair loss control management by collecting loose hair that may shed during the night, ensuring a cleaner and more comfortable sleeping environment. Choose a soft, breathable nightcap made from materials like cotton or bamboo to keep your head warm and comfortable while you sleep. These caps are designed to stay snug throughout the night without being too tight or irritating.
- Casual at Home or Hospital: For casual wear, opt for lightweight beanies or turbans made from jersey or cotton. These should be easy to put on, provide full coverage, and feel comfortable for extended periods. They’re ideal for relaxing at home or staying cozy during hospital visits.
- Sun Protection: When outdoors, especially in sunny weather, it's essential to protect your scalp from UV rays. Look for wide-brimmed hats or caps with neck flaps that offer full coverage and UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) fabrics. These hats should be breathable and adjustable for extra comfort.
- Social Occasions: For social gatherings, visiting clinics, shopping, or just stepping out, you might want to wear something more stylish. Consider elegant cloche hats, berets, or head wraps that complement your outfit while providing full scalp coverage. These hats may feature decorative elements like rosettes, ribbons, or pleats to add a touch of sophistication. This combination of style and comfort ensures you look and feel your best while navigating everyday activities.
When starting chemotherapy, one of the first things you might want to do is prepare for the possibility of hair loss. It's a good idea to explore headwear options early on. You’ll need headwear for different situations, including sleeping, casual wear, sun protection, and social occasions. Consult with your healthcare provider and look into chemo headwear collections that focus on both comfort and style for your needs.
Hair loss is a common side effect of many chemotherapy treatments, but not all patients lose their hair entirely. Some experience hair thinning while others lose it all within the first few weeks of treatment. Your doctor can provide more specific information based on your treatment plan.
Many people opt to cut their hair short or shave their heads before starting chemo. This can reduce the emotional shock of seeing your hair fall out and make it easier to manage. Whether you choose to cut your hair or not, the important thing is to do what feels most comfortable and empowering for you.
There is no set timeline, and everyone's experience is different.
Some people choose to stop wearing headwear as soon as short hair begins growing back. Others continue wearing hats or turbans for several months until they feel more confident with their new hairstyle.
Many patients also continue wearing headwear for practical reasons. A newly regrown scalp can remain sensitive to sunlight, wind and cold weather, making soft hats comfortable even after hair has started returning.
Some people even discover they enjoy wearing certain hats long after treatment because they provide sun protection or have become part of their everyday style.
There is no "right" time to stop wearing chemo headwear. The decision is entirely personal. Wear it for as long as it makes you feel comfortable, confident and protected.
Hair regrowth varies from person to person and depends on the type of chemotherapy you receive.
For many people, new hair begins appearing around one to three months after chemotherapy finishes, although some notice fine hair returning even earlier.
Initially, the new hair may feel softer, finer or curlier than before. Some people notice changes in colour or texture during the early stages of regrowth. These changes are often temporary, although occasionally they can be long-lasting.
Hair usually continues becoming thicker over the following months, but full regrowth may take six to twelve months or longer.
While waiting for your hair to return, comfortable chemo headwear can help keep your scalp protected from sun, cold weather and everyday exposure.
If you have concerns about your hair regrowth or notice unexpected changes, speak with your oncology team, who can provide advice based on your individual treatment.
Because chemo hats are worn directly against your scalp, regular washing helps keep them fresh, comfortable and hygienic.
If you wear the same hat every day, washing it every two to four wears is generally a good guide. If you perspire heavily, experience hot flushes or wear the hat for extended periods, you may prefer to wash it more frequently.
Always follow the care instructions supplied with your headwear.
Many bamboo and cotton hats can be gently hand washed or machine washed on a delicate cycle using a mild detergent. Air drying is usually recommended to help maintain the shape and softness of the fabric.
Having several hats allows you to rotate them, reducing wear while ensuring you always have a clean one available.
Many first-time buyers share similar experiences. Fortunately, these mistakes are easy to avoid.
Waiting too long
Many people wait until hair has already started falling out before looking for headwear. Shopping beforehand allows you to choose calmly and feel prepared.
Buying only one hat
Chemo hats need regular washing, so having several allows you to rotate them while keeping one clean and ready.
Choosing style over comfort
A beautiful hat isn't much use if it feels uncomfortable after several hours. Softness and comfort should always come first.
Buying the wrong size
A hat that is too tight may become uncomfortable, while one that is too loose may slip. Measuring your head before purchasing helps achieve the best fit.
Assuming you need a wig
Many people feel pressured to buy a wig immediately. In reality, many patients are perfectly happy wearing hats, turbans or scarves instead. Others enjoy alternating between wigs and headwear. There is no right or wrong choice.
Forgetting about the Australian climate
Australia's strong sun makes UV protection particularly important. A comfortable wide-brim hat can become one of your most-used items during treatment.
Starting chemotherapy can already feel overwhelming, so it's understandable if you don't want to spend a large amount of money immediately.
Fortunately, you don't need an extensive collection to begin.
If you're working within a budget, we recommend prioritising:
This small collection provides enough variety for washing and daily wear without purchasing more than you need.
Many people also discover that they already own favourite hats they would still like to wear. Rather than replacing them, a soft bamboo hat liner can make many ordinary hats much more comfortable by providing a gentle layer between your scalp and the inside of the hat.
As treatment progresses, you'll gain a better understanding of which styles you enjoy wearing before expanding your collection.
Whether your hair loss is caused by chemotherapy, alopecia or another medical condition, your scalp may become more sensitive than usual. Choosing a soft, breathable fabric for your chemo headwear can make a significant difference to your comfort.
One of the most popular choices is bamboo viscose because it is exceptionally soft against sensitive skin. Bamboo fabric is naturally breathable, lightweight and absorbs moisture well, helping many people stay more comfortable during warm weather or hot flushes. Bamboo also helps reduce friction against a tender scalp, making it a popular choice for everyday wear.
Cotton is another excellent option. It is soft, breathable, easy to wash and suitable for everyday use. However, many people find that premium bamboo fabrics feel even softer and cooler against a sensitive scalp.
Synthetic fabrics such as polyester may be suitable for fashion styles, but they can trap more heat and moisture. If your scalp becomes easily irritated, you may prefer natural fibres or bamboo-rich fabrics instead.
During winter, many people enjoy wearing soft fleece or wool-blend hats outdoors for extra warmth, while still choosing a bamboo or cotton lining against the scalp for maximum comfort.
Ultimately, the best fabric depends on your personal preferences and how your scalp feels during treatment and recovery. If possible, try a few different materials to discover which fabric keeps you feeling the most comfortable throughout the day.
There isn't a single "right" number because everyone's treatment journey is different. Some people wear headwear every day for several months, while others alternate between hats, scarves and wigs.
As a practical starting point, we usually recommend having at least three to five pieces of headwear so that you always have a clean one available while others are being washed.
A simple starter collection might include:
Many people discover that they prefer different styles for different situations. For example, a lightweight bamboo cap may be ideal around the house, while a stylish turban or sun hat feels more appropriate when going shopping or meeting friends.
If your treatment continues for several months, you may gradually add more colours and styles as your needs change. There is no need to buy everything at once.
You'll need different types of hats for various situations during chemotherapy. Here are some recommendations:
Wigs can provide the look of a full head of hair, which some people find comforting, especially for social events. However, wigs can be warm and less comfortable for long-term daily wear. Hats, scarves, and turbans are lightweight, breathable, and ideal for day-to-day use, especially at home or for quick errands.
There are also options in between, such as hair extensions sewn onto a headband or a hat. These allow you to show some hair around the hat while keeping your head cooler compared to a full wig. Hair extensions provide a natural look without the warmth or bulkiness of a wig, making them a great alternative for those who want some hair coverage without the discomfort of wearing a full wig all day.
How Do I know Which Hat Size Fits Me?
All our hats are designed to reflect the size versatility of our Australian population. Most of our hats are made of stretchy material such as jersey fabrics or spandex added fabrics, or they are size adjustable. Some times if a hat is fitted, we will provide different size options.
If your head is smaller than 53cm/20.8in or larger than 58cm/22.8in, please use our product size filter which can be accessed on a category page.

Jas Fashion Headwear Materials and Style Tips
Our chemo headwear is made from various materials, each with its own benefits:
Bamboo Viscose: Known for its comfort and size flexibility, bamboo viscose offers features that other materials cannot match. It is soft, breathable, and adjusts well to different head sizes.
Cotton: A good alternative that is budget-friendly, though it may not be as soft or size-flexible as bamboo viscose.
Polyester: We stock polyester-based headwear as well. These are tested to ensure they are suitable for bald heads and are a cost-effective option for those on a tight budget.
At Jas Fashion, you’ll find something that suits everyone’s needs.
Make sure you check our Material Section for each product. Screenshot example as follows:

Hat Fitting and Styling Based on Face Shapes
1. Face Shapes and Headcover Styles:
Elongated Face:
Description: An elongated face has a greater vertical length from forehead to chin relative to its width, creating a more stretched appearance.
Recommended Hat Styles: To balance the length, avoid headcovers that add more height, such as tall or high-crown hats. Instead, opt for turbans or scarves that add width on both sides of the face. These styles can help create a more balanced and proportional look by emphasizing horizontal lines.
Medium to Elongated Faces:
Description: Faces with a balanced vertical and horizontal length, often versatile for various hat styles.
Recommended Hat Styles: You can experiment with a wide range of styles, including beanies, headscarves, turbans, and wide-brimmed hats. Choose hats that add width to complement your natural proportions.
Compact Faces (Including Round and Square Faces):
Description: Compact faces have a shorter vertical length and include round faces (wider than long) and square faces (with strong, angular features).
Recommended Hat Styles:
Round Faces: Choose bakerboy hats or hats with vertical elements (such as Turbans with an A-shaped front) to add length and contrast the roundness.
Square Faces: Opt for soft, rounded hats like floppy hats or beanies to soften angular features and achieve a more balanced look. Also, consider styles with a high crown structure to add height and balance. Turbans with A-shaped front can be a good style option too.

2. Additional Tips for Headcover Style Choices:
Experiment with Styles: Don’t be afraid to try different hats to find what best complements your face shape. Your hat should reflect your personal style and add to your confidence.
Consider Proportions and Personality: Choose hats that not only enhance your facial features but also align with your personality and lifestyle. Whether you’re dressing for a casual outing, a professional setting, or a special event, select a hat that matches the occasion and your personal flair.
Social Life and Trends: Consider the social settings and trends that influence your style. A hat that suits your face shape and fits well with current trends can elevate your overall look and make you feel more stylish and self-assured.
This guide draws on years of customer service experience and acknowledges that fashion and styling are highly individual. While there’s no one-size-fits-all approach, we hope this information helps you see how different hat styles can complement your face shape and reflect your personality. Our aim is to assist you in finding the perfect hat that aligns with your unique style and social activities.

Returns, Exchanges & Refunds
Jas Fashion accepts returns of eligible items within 30 days, provided they meet our return conditions. Returned items must be unworn, unused and in their original condition.
For full details, please read our Returns Policy before returning your items.
Our standard return period is 30 days. Unfortunately, we are generally unable to accept returns after this period.
We understand that circumstances can change, particularly for customers and families going through cancer treatment or other difficult times. However, having a consistent return period allows us to manage returned stock fairly, maintain appropriate quality and hygiene standards, and comply with the processing timeframes and limitations of banks and payment providers.
If your items are no longer needed and the return period has passed, you may wish to consider donating them to a local hospital, cancer centre, wig library or other community organisation where they may help someone in need.
If you are unsure where to donate suitable items, you are welcome to contact us. Where possible, we may be able to suggest an organisation that could benefit from your donation.
To help us maintain our high hygiene standards, all returns must be approved before being sent back to us. Please contact us first to request return approval and follow the return instructions provided.
A completed Return Form must be included with your parcel so we can identify your order, allocate the returned items correctly and process your return as efficiently as possible.
To make the process faster and easier, we recommend placing a new order for the size, colour or style you prefer rather than requesting a direct exchange. This also helps ensure your preferred item is not sold out while your return is on its way to us.
Once we receive and approve your returned items, we will provide either a store credit or refund, based on the preference selected on your Return Form and subject to our Returns Policy.
Returned chemo hats must be in their original, unworn, unused and resalable condition, with all original tags and packaging intact. Items must be free from hair, makeup, odours, marks, damage or other signs of wear or use.
Please note that chemo hats that have only been tried on are still considered used for hygiene assessment purposes. To help maintain our high hygiene standards, we strongly recommend using a suitable barrier when trying on chemo headwear, such as a wig liner or disposable try-on cap. A very thin disposable try-on cap is the preferred option, as it provides a hygienic barrier while having minimal effect on the fit of the headwear.
All returned items are inspected upon receipt. If an item does not meet our return conditions or is not in the condition declared by the customer, the return will not be accepted. At the customer’s direction, the item may either be returned to the customer at their expense or donated to a suitable charity or community organisation.
If your return is sent after the 30-day return period has expired, it will generally not be accepted. We therefore recommend arranging your return as soon as possible after receiving return approval and keeping your postage receipt or tracking details as proof of the date the parcel was sent.
Items returned outside the approved return period may be returned to the sender at the sender’s cost or, with the customer’s agreement, donated to a suitable charity or community organisation.
For full details, please refer to our Returns Policy.
Once your return has been received and inspected, we will process your refund or store credit according to the preference selected on your Return Form and the eligibility of your return.
Approved refunds will generally be returned to your original payment method. Store credit will be issued to your Jas Fashion account for use towards a future purchase.
Please allow a reasonable processing time after your parcel has been delivered to us, particularly during busy periods. You will receive an email notification once your return has been processed.
